THE ARCHITECTURE
FOUNDATION
The Architecture Foundation (A.B.N. 36 384 968
087) was established in October 2006 to attract gifts of money and
property, administer and invest those gifts and consequent income
and to provide funding to the University of Newcastle in support
of the Eric Parker Travelling Scholarship.
The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds,
undertake prudent investment of those funds and make grants to the
University of Newcastle and thus benefit the nominated scholarship.
In June 2007, the Foundation was approved as a
Prescribed Private Fund with D.G.R. status allowing tax deductibility
of all donations received, as well as exemption from income and
capital gains tax liabilities.
THE TRUSTEES
The trustees have wide-ranging and significant powers to manage
and control the Fund. These powers and limitations are spelt out
in the Trust Deed of the Foundation, in Sections 8, 9 and 10.

travelling scholarship was established at The University of Newcastle.

GIFT ACCUMULATION PLAN
The Gift Accumulation Plan includes retention of 90% of all gifts
and donations for at least 10 years from 2007. An amount of 10%
of all gifts and donations as well as all the full amount of all
other income will be directed towards the nominated beneficiary
from 2007. Once the approved capital base of the Fund has been achieved,
all gifts, donations and other income will be directed towards to
the nominated beneficiary.
The capital base will be reviewed annually and adjusted in accordance
with CPI movements or as extraordinary situations demand.
THE FOUNDATION INVESTMENT POLICY
The Trustee will invest all trust monies in a way that carries
little or no risk of loss and, at the same time, maximises the greatest
possible return of interest within that context of low risk.
Operational investment and financial advice is provided by Prosperity
Financial Advisers, Newcastle.
TRUSTEE’S POWERS
The powers of the Trustee are wide ranging, and substantial and
carry significant personal and corporate indemnity against possible
loss or liability.
Clause 8.2 (d) of the Trust Deed permits the Trustee to “take
and act on the opinion of a barrister practising in Australia in
relation to the Trust Deed or any of the trusts or powers of the
Trust Deed. . . .” The barrister from whom all legal opinion
is sought is Ian Bailey (Senior Counsel, Sydney Bar and graduate
of the University of Newcastle School of Architecture).
